Please pardon the lapse of 'original' posts, but I do have some exciting news!
I had auditioned last week for LP Stage Production's run of Shout! The Mod Musical - and if you liked Jersey Boys, this one's right up your alley for a groovy girls' night out! Shout! takes you back in time to the 1960s and 1970s, where women were awakened to a new independence never before experienced by previous generations. In the wake of changing attitudes toward genders, the birth control pill to the evils of marijuana, mod fashions and big hair, heartbreak, true love and everything in between, this revolution of women is set to a soundtrack of the pioneers of the time from America and 'across the pond' in Great Britain. Such great ladies as Dusty Springfield, Lulu, Shirley Bassey, Petula Clark, Cilla Black and so much more map out the timeline for these five girls growing up through changing times in a 'groovy age'. With tongue in cheek and humour in check, this musical "will make you wanna throw your head back and Shout!" Check out this video of the national tour hitting Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine, United States!
All we're missing is a cameo from Austin Powers! *chuckle* Each girl's character is identified by the colour they wear, and different personalities toboot. Red's the quirky one, Orange is the motherly one, Blue is the supermodel and Yellow is the American (all the other girls are English). See that saucy girl in the green? Guess what? That's my part! I'm so excited! Rehearsals will begin in January for a one-weekend-only run in Shelburne, Ontario at the Grace Tipling Concert Hall in May 2011. In the meantime, I've been overloading on Shirley Bassey and Manchurian accents - and spirit fingers!
Check out this video of Amanda-Jane Manning as the Green Girl on stage at the Stardust Theatre in Miami! I'm very excited - and extremely nervous - about singing 'Goldfinger'. Shirley Bassey's got some big lungs to fill, if you know what I mean!
Once rehearsals start, I hope to have some cool stuff from rehearsals and production stuff! A big thank you to those friends, family and coworkers - yes, you know exactly who you are, and if you think I'm talking about you, then I am! - for all their support. I can't wait to get started!
